Once again the drive was made to Gray Summit, MO to partake of the Gateway Nationals at Purina Farms. We have managed some successful trips to this venue in the past, but this year gave us astronomical results!! This time around I brought Deuce since he remains the top Silken Windhound in the UKC. Also in tow were Siren, Velvet (Deuce’s sister) and Onyx. Siren and Onyx were kind of last-minute additions and had not been pre-entered. Onyx is just getting started in her ring career, and Siren was brought along in case we needed another Champion so GCH legs could be earned (need a minimum of 3 competitors).
In a total of 6 shows, Deuce was awarded the following:
- SIX Best of Breed Wins
- FIVE Sighthound Group Ones
- ONE Sighthound Group Four
- ONE Reserve Best in Multi-Breed Show
- ONE Best in Multi-Breed Show!!!
In addition to Deuce’s awards, Siren earned a GCH leg on Saturday, and Velvet was awarded two GCH legs at Sunday’s shows.
Deuce is the first Silken Windhound in history to be awarded a Best in Multi-Breed Show at the Gateway Nationals! We are so proud of our over-achieving white tornado!!
