Today we are celebrating the birthday of one of our very special 4-legged family members, and the beginning of a new era at Gryffyn’s Aeyrie.
10 years ago today the first Silken Windhound litter born at Gryffyn’s Aeyrie came into this world. The mother was Josi, aka Multi-Reserve BIS Rarities Grand Ch. IABCA ISWS Ch. Kristull Jumpin’ Jehosephat, the first Silken Windhound we acquired (along with a baby Duncan). The father was the gentlemanly Ivan, aka Ivan-da-Ho, aka Best in Show, Reserve BIS Rarities IABCA Ch. Kristull Ivanhoe.
Amid the self and irish marked brindles was a little gold spotted boy with a blaze right up the middle of his bright-pink accented face. I was instantly in love.
Tyler, aka “Wee-Man,” formally known as MBIS MBISS Rarities IABCA Ch. and ISWS Grand Ch. Gryffyn’s Just Push Play is 10 years old. Time has truly flown by and it doesn’t seem possible that he has been with us for a span of double-digit years. Within that span of time, he has exceeded my expectations in so many ways. From taking Winners Dog at his first SilkenFest to winning the national SF a record-setting three times – he is a consummate showman (read, show-off!) and loves to strut his stuff.
He still races the youngsters in the big backyard, chases the squirrels with vigor when he comes with me to visit dad, shamelessly flirts with the girlies here (big and small) and just doesn’t seem like an elder in any way. He’s accomplished so much for us and has been a dream come true in so many ways – I hope he stays with us for many, many more years to come. He holds a special place in my heart and I cannot imagine a world without him.
Happy birthday hugs also to his littermates:
Luv (Gryffyn’s Aeyrie Moments in Love) and Dreamer (Gryffyn’s Aeyrie Wildest Dreams) with Paige Lasater in CA, and Wylie (Gryffyn’s Aeyrie Thunderstruck, with Judy in CA). Also a hug to heaven for his beautiful sister, Ginger (ISWS Rarities IABCA CH Gryffyn’s Dancin’ Queen), gone much too soon after a backyard mishap almost 5 years ago.
